St. Patrick's Day

Ticket signed by Doug Glanville and Marlon Anderson

St. Patrick's Day. We were up early and took Karen to the airport. Then Mike and I went to Walmart. We picked up an atlas, film, and a few drinks. On the way out, we saw a woman in a motorized cart walking her dog across a busy four lane road. Unfortunately, the camera was out of reach. We headed out to Sanibel Island. We had to pay a $3.00 toll to take the bridge across. It was a long bridge. We drove around the island- there were tortoise crossing signs. There were quite a few houses on the inside of the island. It wouldn't be worth it to live there. Such a long commute to the city every day. We looked for a place for breakfast. One cafe had an hour to hour and fifteen minute wait. We continued driving and found the Island House restaurant. They had a great breakfast buffet set up with quiche, grits, french toast, fruit, and lots of other stuff. While we were leaving, people were coming to church. A woman in a BMW parked in the entrance way to the church. People got mad at her. We headed back to the mainland.

After touring the ghetto in the neighborhood of City of Palms park, we finally found the stadium. They gave us Derek Lowe concession stand baseball cards on the way in. Mike had to call his backpack a handbag in order to get in with it. The hot dog guy had a hat with Scooby Doo on it.

The seats were great, two in a row in the section we were in. It was also in the shade. The game went fast, about two hours and ten minutes. The Red Sox wore green hats for St. Patrick's Day. The score was 2-0 Red Sox over the Phillies. Myers pitched well for the Phillies except for two mistakes- back-to-back homeruns given up to Varitek and Merloni.

Recap

After the game, Mike and I had quite a souvenir haul. Mike got the Phillies lineup card from Jason Michaels. The equipment guy in the Red Sox dugout threw me a baseball with a pine tar stain. I also had an equipment guy in the Phillies dugout give me a broken bat handle which Johnny Estrada had broken in batting practice. We waited outside and Mike had many Phillies players and coaches sign the lineup card. I had Doug Glanville and Marlon Anderson sign my ticket.
